Charles DeSantis
Charles DeSantis lives in Washington DC with his husband David McDermott and their 4 children, (Lucas, Andre, Jasmine and Lilly). This is his second book to be published; his first book was Smart, Beautiful and Important in 2010. Charles is Georgetown University's Associate Vice President and Chief Benefits Officer.
Charles DeSantis has a passion for serving others that manifests itself both in his work as Associate Vice President and Chief Benefits Officer at Georgetown University and in his service on the Boards of Nyumbani, an organization that serves children with HIV/AIDS in Kenya, Stepping Stones Growth Center, a non-profit organization serving the developmentally disabled in San Francisco, and as chairman of the board of USA for UNHCR (The UN Refugee organization) serving the needs of refugees worldwide. Since 2007, DeSantis has been traveling to Nairobi, Kenya, developing and executing an Art Immersion program for the children at St. Aloysius of Gonzaga secondary School in the Kibera slum. In 2013, The Kibera Art Institute was launched providing monthly art creation opportunities in the Kibera Slum for both children and adults led by local artists.
